HOW to get into THE ZONE
This article continues from a previous blog post on the ultimatetest.org website titled ‘WHY get into THE ZONE?’ It would be useful to read that preliminary article if you have not already done so.
In this part we get in to the detail. This article provides the step by step logistics of HOW TO GET INTO THE ZONE. Plus, we briefly discuss HOW TO LIVE FROM THAT STATE.
We will make this explanation as plain, clear and simple as possible. The actual practice is often much simpler than the written explanation. So, don’t be discouraged by all the words. Give it a try. Remember, we often did this as children!
THERE ARE MANY WAYS OF TACKLING THIS PROCESS. Use your own intuition or inner knowing to find the best way for you. Once you have set this intent, be open to new possibilities and synchronicity. These will help indicate the very best approach for you. Below is one simple approach you could consider, but there many others. Use what works best for you.
TO START THIS PROCESS AS A NOVICE OR BEGINNER, SOME PRELIMINARY PREPARATION IS USUALLY NECESSARY. Let’s begin with that:
FIRST SCHEDULE SOME QUIET TIME each day just to be still and to calm your body & mind. Then use this time to practice some quiet contemplation. You could practice some meditation exercise if you already know how to do this. Having a pleasant, quiet and undisturbed space for this is the ideal. Do this at least once daily, for a minimum of 10 minutes each time.
ESTABLISH A REGULAR PRACTICE OF SITTING QUIETLY WITH YOURSELF. Be still, relax and practice quieting your mind. The aim is to slow your racing mind. Following the pattern of your natural breathing (in and out) may help you relax. Being mindful of the sensation of air entering and exiting our nostrils or mouth can be useful. Aim to quieten and slow your thoughts and then fully un-attach from them. Let any thoughts just ‘float by’ without engaging them in any way. Ideally, with practice you will then focus on the gaps between your thoughts and then finally connect or merge with that space.
THE NEXT STEP IS (in simple terms) TO PRACTICE DAY DREAMING AGAIN! This is much like we did naturally & intuitively as children. As adults however, it’s important that this ‘day-dream’ is not just some vague fantasy to distract or amuse ourselves. That’s what we unfortunately tend to do as adults.
WE SHOULD PRACTICE TRUE IMAGINATION AND VISUALIZATION. This is THE POWER OF CREATIVE IMAGINING. We actively VISUALIZE AND CREATE IN OUR MIND THE EXACT SCENARIOS we truly want to manifest in our lives. This applies equally to a physical endeavour such as a big race, a creative project, or some spiritual quest.
DO THIS CREATIVE IMAGINING WITH CAREFUL INNER DELIBERATION REGARDING WHAT YOU TRULY WANT. Enquire from the very depth of your being.
THEN VISUALIZE YOUR IDEAL SCENARIO AND FINE-TUNE IT to your highest satisfaction. Imagine HOW IT WOULD FEEL every step of the way, including the preparation. Focus on WHAT IT WOULD LOOK-LIKE AND FEEL LIKE in all aspects the dream scenario. Try to intensely visualize and appreciate each sight & sound. Imagine experiencing EACH SENSATION, and every FEELING AND EMOTION.
AN ADDITIONAL AID is to make this visualization slightly more emotive, powerful & vivid in our creative imagining than it might even be in reality! Imagine you are living that future reality as a heightened experience. Experience what each sensation would feel like in the preparation, training and then in every moment of that race or whatever endeavour was chosen. Anticipate and feel ‘the high ’of the winning moment, or the bliss of that loving spiritual connection.
THEN FULLY LAUNCH AND RELEASE THAT DREAM SCENARIO back into the Universe. Lovingly and gently ANTICIPATE ITS FUTURE RETURN AS YOUR REALITY. It may even return as an enhanced or improved version.
To recap, we first created our dream scenario through our powerful imagination & visualization. We then gladly sent it on its way for completion and fruition. FROM THAT POINT there is then no need to keep re-visualizing or re-imagining it all in detail. That can even be counter-productive.
NOW JUST HOLD THE OVERALL INTENT AND THAT FEELING OF ACHIEVEMENT. Delicately hold just the intent of YOUR Dream and the feeling of having achieved this till it returns into your physical reality. THIS IMPORTANT STAGE HOLDS THE SPACE FOR THE INTENT TO MANIFEST WITHIN.
You might wonder how much time is required for the preliminary work:
The STAGE of CREATIVE IMAGINING and VIRTUAL EXPERIENCING could take some hours or some days to accomplish. There is no fixed time constraint except for the practicalities of daily life and the energy of the participant. It is however important not to exhaust ourselves with too lengthy a process. The POWER OF THE PROCESS is in the CLARITY of the visualization and in the INTENSITY of the emotions felt. So, don’t let those diminish by taking too long or making it all too complex. Find the right balance.
The PRELIMINARY GROUND WORK of MIND MANAGEMENT could however take some weeks or months for a novice or beginner. That is the prior preparation of establishing a quiet and non-reactive mind. This preparation is however necessary for retuning and optimizing our Creative Imagination. Establishing a receptive and creative mind space is essential. Don’t ignore this.
THE NEXT STAGE IS TO ACTIVELY PRACTICE LIVING IN THE ZONE:
START TO PRACTICE LIVING AS ‘THE NEW PERSON” you have visualized in your imagination. Live exactly as you feel they would! CHANGE YOUR LIFESTYLE AND FRAME OF MIND TO MATCH the person in your visualization. Behave exactly in every way as you would imagine your ‘new self’ would do. The exact logistics of what you do are not as important at this stage. It’s the attitude, composure and presence that’s important. Hold that feeling and intent.
THEN PROCEED WITH THE LOGISTICS OF YOUR PREPARATION & TRAINING. USE THE MINDSET of your ideal self plus your intuition and inner knowing to organize and complete the best TRAINING PROGRAM FOR YOUR ENDEAVOUR. Your prior creative visualization process might also have offered some insights into the training and preparation required.
LIVING IN THE ZONE HELPS YOU RECRUIT ADDITIONAL RESOURCES and allows for changes to aid your endeavour, whatever that might be. For example, you might feel the need to start some new or special training technique. Listen to your inner guidance at every moment. Be awake and receptive to any new opportunities. Synchronicity, will provide the additional information or resources you need. Its very important to BE OPEN TO ANY NEW OPPORTUNITIES ARISING IN ANY WAY. The additional aids and resources thus presented can markedly contribute to the final success.
THE FINAL STAGE IS TO HAVE A MIND SET OF CALM AWARENESS, CONFIDENCE AND GRATITUDE. We inwardly know the resources offered have been utilized and that we have practiced to the best of our ability in the optimal way. We hold gratitude in our heart for all that has been provided to us along the way. We dedicate any success not to ourselves but to a greater or higher cause & do this as a service to others. We plan to use our performance & our behaviour for the betterment of all.
