ARE YOU TRYING TO CRAM MORE INTO YOUR LIFE?
How else can we maximum the limited time available to us? Most people just try to add MORE events into their life. They try to SQUEEZE the maximum content INTO every hour or day. This leads to overload or overwhelm! We risk experiencing confusion or even chaos.
INSTEAD, EXPAND YOUR EXPERIENCE OF TIME.
For personal transformation we recommend a more sophisticated strategy of ‘time management’! We could instead maximize our EXPERIENCE of life. We can aim to expand our SENSE of time. We can HEIGHTEN our experience IN every moment. This is potentially more powerful, rewarding and much less stressful!
SLOW TIME BY SLOWING YOUR THOUGHTS.
But is it really possible to slow time or heighten the experience? Can our notion of time be slowed? Can our experience be expanded? With simple mind training, we can learn to slow our thoughts. This increases the RELATIVE gap or space between individual thoughts. This has the effect of slowing the brain’s interpretation of time. We can thus maximize the experience of any situation. We can have a magnified or expanded awareness of what’s happening.
Employing such mind-management techniques helps maximize our success in personal transformation. Additional mind-training exercises are presented later in this book. These also aid our discernment & decision making. This contributes to success and the winning edge.
TRAIN YOUR MIND TO MAXIMISE EACH MOMENT.
Let’s look at how mind training works with regards to maximizing every moment. How do we use this to expand our sense of mind-time? By training our mind, we extract more from each experience! Remember, we don’t actually expand time itself, but only our mind-based perception of it.
START BY NOTICING THE GAPS BETWEEN YOUR BREATHS.
We can start our mind training by simply noting the gaps between our breaths, and then between our thoughts. As we further slow our train of thought, these intervals become wider. Our individual thoughts become more well defined too. They now stand out more clearly from the background. They even seem magnified! We become increasingly aware that each thought or sensation is surrounded by vast stillness & space. Our focus becomes maximized and our experience heightened. We can better appreciate the magnitude and grandeur of each moment.
EXPAND THE GAPS BETWEEN YOUR THOUGHTS.
Regular practise of contemplation or meditation helps settle the ongoing chatter of our Monkey Mind. Then by slowing down our thinking even further we can better appreciate individual thoughts. Next, we practise expanding the space or interval between our thoughts. This creates a relative expansion. It slows down the psychological perception of time, in our brain!
SLOWING YOUR THOUGHTS REDUCES ATTACHMENT TO THEM.
Conversely, the same principles, allow us to more easily un-attach from an individual thought, or a train of thought. We have created an extra buffer of time to do this! It becomes easier to cease our involvement with a thought or thought sequence. We can more easily decline the tempting invitation to mentally engage with our thoughts, feelings, or emotions.
By remaining un-attached from our thoughts we avoid over-reacting or rumination. We avoid the unnecessary story or drama that’s attached to every thought or emotion.
MAKE EVERY MOMENT COUNT BY EXPANDING & APPRECIATING THEM.
In summary, we can do more than simply be efficient with our time or just cram more in. We can instead make each moment count by expanding our sense of time. We can also increase our appreciation of every instant.
EXPAND YOUR PERCEPTION OF REALITY.
Our thoughts no longer need to be jumbled and racing. They can be slower and better defined. We can better avoid distraction and daily drama. All this provides a heightened perception and better management of our reality.
THIS IS A NATURAL & AUTOMATIC PROCESS!
The remarkable super-computer in our brain, deals with the details and logistics of all this. The Universal intelligence that the brain interfaces with does most of the work. All this remarkable capacity can be utilized for our personal success. Our mind-training and meditation practice helps enable this process.
