SOS BOOK (Chapter 3.14) How to approach personal development
WHAT DO WE NEED TO INWARDLY TRANSFORM OURSELVES?
We don’t need MORE intellectual stuff! What we DO need is help in ‘bringing together’ everything that we already DO know.
This special information we seek could help us find effective new approaches, such as tapping into our intuitive nature. Or it might inspire us to finally start our journey of personal transformation! It might help us persevere & better succeed, by helping us understand the hurdles & pitfalls.
THE RIGHT APPROACH LEADS TO A BETTER EXPERIENCE, INNER PEACE & JOY!
You have indeed found a good approach if it achieves these goals. Let’s look at some more approaches that the SOS Book encourages you to explore.
MANAGING OUR THOUGHTS IS THE INTERFACE & MECHANISM FOR OPTIMAL USE OF OUR MIND.
This is a very important concept but might be hard to understand! It can be further simplified & crystalized as follows: Our thought stream directs the whole process!
We exert ‘this control’ specifically from our autonomous or sovereign nature. But what is that? Our ‘sovereign being’ is the highest level of executive control that we as humans can each personally identify with and exert! Sovereign decision making is critical to our personal development!
EVERY INDIVIDUAL THOUGHT WE CHOOSE IMPACTS OUR BRAIN, MIND, BODY & LIFE.
How do we DIRECT our personal development? The brief answer is by consciously choosing which thoughts we choose to promote! Our thoughts initiate a subtle cascade of change and subsequent effect. So, we might benefit from some guidance on how best to choose our thoughts!
Understanding this will speed up our personal growth & transformation. But we must however be sufficiently ‘open’ or ready to welcome this new understanding in!
EVEN CLEAR ADVICE CAN BE DIFFICULT TO IMPLEMENT.
Even if the advice is clear, simple & profound; that doesn’t mean it’s always easy to incorporate or to do! Any change can be difficult to accomplish. But slowly overcoming our resistance can be part of the thrill. That then becomes the ongoing personal challenge! There are also progressive levels of difficulty. So, it’s an ongoing adventure or journey!
Sometimes it’s hard to really ‘get’ or fully realize what is being conveyed. The deeper meaning or ‘knowing’ can sometimes seem difficult to grasp! So here is an analogy to help convey the more profound or deeper truth…
A RACING CAR ANALOGY.
Let’s consider a racing car analogy to explain the concept of ‘personal development’. This analogy highlights that each of us has an autonomous or sovereign self. That’s represented as ‘the driver’ in this racing car analogy.
OUR ‘SOVEREIGN SELF’ IS THE DRIVER BEHIND THE WHEEL.
It ‘sits’ at the steering wheel & the control panel of our potential & our adventure. In personal development, the equivalent is managing or ‘driving’ the enormous power of our brain & mind that is available to us.
THE ‘UNIVERSAL MIND’ CAN BE THOUGHT OF AS OUR RACING CAR SUPPORT TEAM.
In the racing car analogy our ‘Universal Mind’ is the extensive team & partnership that assists the driver & supports the car. With this extensive support, we could potentially ‘go anywhere’. We can achieve anything we can imagine and truly desire! But how do we ensure that really happens?
WE NEED TO ALIGN VIBRATIONALLY WITH THE OUTCOME WE WANT!
We need to really be ‘in-tune’ with both the process and the desired outcome. In the racing analogy, top racing car drivers are totally in-tune with their machine and their body. They have keenly practiced, visualized the entire race and utilize a strategy. Then during the race, they stay ‘fully connected’ and ‘in the moment’ to allow the further adjustment that’s needed.
We need to practice doing the equivalent… The aim is to ‘stay connected’ and ‘in the moment’ during our daily life!
WE CAN REGULARLY ADJUST OR FINE-TUNE OUR APPROACH.
Just like the racing card drivers, we can regularly re-assess our progress. That helps get us up to full speed! We shouldn’t expect to get all our thoughts, ideas or plans exactly right from the start. Imagine getting behind the steering wheel & control panel of a Formula-1 racing car for the first time. That’s relatively how much ‘power & technology’ we have at our disposal! Without prior experience, we will need some courage & probably some advice.
START WITH SMALL STEPS.
We must expect that our initial rides will be a little ‘jerky’ and even off track at times. Initially, we might even bump, scratch or even dent or car a little. But with a little guidance, perseverance & regular daily practice we will soon be negotiating the track with more confidence. Soon we could be challenging our self by increasing our speed and building undeveloped capacity & abilities.
WE AIM TO FIND NEW ABILITIES & RAISE OUR POTENTIAL!
In our racing car analogy, we would probably start by slowly edging around a practice track. We start slowly, gently and choose a safe environment. In personal mind-development, what’s the equivalent? We practise having an ‘increased awareness’ of our senses, emotions, feelings & thoughts.
As on the racetrack, support can be sought from experts, courses or classes. We should never be afraid to ask for special help from the experts! Sometimes expert personal guidance or tuition may be necessary. As with the racing car, some specialized knowledge of the controls will help, plus having a few helpful hints and strategies.
WE CAN ENJOY THE THRILL OF THE WHOLE LEARNING EXPERIENCE.
Our adventure doesn’t need to be limited to just one car or one track either! But acquiring all that special information in how to best use our mind or the racing car is however not the final goal. That’s not the optimal outcome.
THE TRUE AIM IS TO UNLEASH OUR HIDDEN CAPACITY FOR OUR LIFE PURPOSE!
This requires considerable practice and ongoing commitment. We can equally achieve success in managing our mind or powering a racing car around the circuit; or whatever other challenge in life we choose.
WE MUST FEEL WORTHY ENOUGH TO ACT ON OUR NEW KNOWLEDGE.
Knowing all about a racing car’s controls, the racetrack and the theory, is of no further benefit if we don’t actually start driving the car. The greatest gift is perhaps that moment we realize we our self are worthy & capable of this action and transformation.
Then we can further journey down the track at increased speed, with increasing ability, increased confidence, the joy of success. This is the potential of a whole new future. If we can master this, we can master any situation that we desire and any challenge we want to overcome. We can achieve the level of performance & transformation that we really want for ourselves!
